A new Rasmussen poll show Palin leading Obama, Biden and even McCain in favorability, a stunning result from a woman who most people hadn't heard of as recently as one week ago; the stats are nothing short of remarkable.
- 58% of all voters view Palin favorably, one point higher than ratings for both McCain and Obama, respectively
- Party politics are still at play; 89% of Republicans give her the thumbs up versus 33% of Dems--but so do a whopping 59% of voters not affiliated with either party
- Men dig her more than women, by 65% to 52%
- Slightly more than half of voters polled think the media are trying to trash Palin
- McCain benefits from a halo effect; 54% view him favorably, versus just 42% before he announced his veep pick--unaffiliated voters rocketed from 54% to 65% today
- 51% think McCain made the right pick in Palin
- 40% think Palin is ready to be President, if necessary, versus just 29% last week--49% say the same of Biden, remarkable when you consider his DC tenure versus her relatively recent entry into politics
- Voters are pretty evenly split over whether Palin or Obama has more experience to be President--44% versus 48%, respectively
- 58% think Palin's RNC speech boosted McCain's chances to win the White House
